Oscar Hernandez, an illegal immigrant who had been living in Bridgeport, has been sentenced to 75 years in prison after he was convicted of murder and other charges in October related to the death of his 26-year-old girlfriend, Nidia Gonzalez.
In February 2017, Hernandez stabbed Gonzalez and her friend in the couple’s Bridgeport apartment, then took off, launching a three-state search that ended in Pennsylvania when Hernandez crashed. Police said that Gonzalez was stabbed multiple times in her neck, suffering puncture wounds to her windpipe. Following the murder, Hernandez claimed that Gonzalez and her friend stabbed each other during a drunken argument.
His lawyers said that Hernandez plans to appeal the sentencing.
